Thank you to Forever for the review copy. My opinions are my own.
I read this in not quite a single sitting, but did read this in a single day. It’s a fairly typical historical romance all be it with a decidedly different twist. Emily is a governess with a background that she’d rather keep secret, when she is recruited by The Dove to spy on the upper class. Zach is in charge of the police investigation into who is murdering prostitutes, and their paths cross in a ballroom.
I liked the fact that neither of the characters were part of the elite, and allowed for a more interesting relationship, as both tend to flout the rules of the society at the time. I also liked how the mystery played into things. One of the side characters that caught my attention is the star of the next book in the series and so now I’m looking forward to that one.
Recommend for historical romance fans.
