Even If It Hurts
by Sam Mariano
Read to me by Alexa
🌶🌶 - for frequency and description ( which was kind of lacking.) it wasn’t fade to black but it wasn’t nearly as descriptive as some other smutty novels.
I really liked Dare even though he’s actually horrible. He was incredibly manipulative and nothing about this relationship was healthy. He was controlling but not as much as some other MMC’s. Dare implored more manipulative underhanded control most of the time vs outright dominance ( except during spicy scenes)
Aubrey was pretty naive when it came Dare and her story line didn’t entirely make sense. She’s effectively the adult in her household because her mother has cancer, but she isn’t bed ridden or too sick to enjoy activities at home. So it seemed kind of crazy that Aubrey is the one managing the bills and anything else that could be managed via an online account or phone call. She’s basically Dare’s side piece the majority of the book which I didn’t like but like Aubrey I was willing to look past this because we as the reader could see that he wasn’t actually with his existing psychotic girlfriend. And we as the reader could see that if he had just broken it off like she asked, the GF might legit have tried to kill her. But Aubrey didn’t know this and it was kind of crazy that she just accepted the situation with only part of the information we the readers had.
I gave this book 4⭐️ mostly because I like my H a little (or a lot) unhinged and morally grey ( or black) …. Dare fit the bill
