The Butlerian Jihad by Brian Herbert, Kevin J. Anderson
5.0
Fascinating. Not only do we see the beginnings of spice harvesting, bene gesserit, personal shields etc but it's a intricate tale in it's own right. It made me think about the rights and wrongs of the people's actions when looking at the bigger picture. Were the slaves really wrong to seek freedom while the human race is as war? How were they any different from the humans seeking freedom from the machines? And of course we see the ancestors of Baron Harkonnen and Duke Atreides.
