The Bonehunters by Steven Erikson

This may be the first book in the series since Memories of Ice that felt like I read it in no time at all. I chipped away at The Bonehunters at a chapter or two a night and it was so fun being back in this world.

I started this book back in 2021, when I read 150 pages and then burned out after reading books 1-5 back to back then starting this one. So, when I started it in May, I went back and started again and I'm looking forward to continuing the series.

The Bonehunters brought back some familiar characters and while the whole book felt very questy, plans are taking shape and this was actually a good place to get back into the series after so long away from it. Despite the Malazan books being 'difficult to follow', I found this book pretty easy to follow (for the most part). I loved being back with my favourite characters and some of the funnier characters really do make this miserable story a little more bearable.
