We Were Liars by E. Lockhart

4.0

Okay—wow. Where do I even start?

This was such a quick read, but it absolutely wrecked me. The writing style is lyrical, sharp, and haunting—it pulls you in and doesn’t let go. I was instantly pulled into the Sinclair family’s world, needing to know everything about these characters.

There were so many surprises along the way. The kind that sneak up on you and shift everything you thought you knew. It’s one of those books that feels visceral—you don’t just read it, you experience it.

And let me just say: this one lingers. Days later and I’m still thinking about it.

Also—highly recommend reading this with a friend or your book club. You’re going to need the emotional support. Trust me, you’ll want someone to process the ending with.

With the screen adaptation on the way, now is the perfect time to dive in. If it’s been sitting on your shelf—read it. Right now.
