Galatea by Madeline Miller
3.5
fast-paced

While the original myth is very sparse and the ending is a good cathartic one, I do feel conflicted about this one. I like how smart she is, and I know the point is to want more of Galatea and her story and less of him, it still felt largely lopsided. The daughter added but also subtracted (mainly through him). I think the style also threw me too, in the same realm as Margaret Atwood's Penelopiad (frank some moments and coy in others). Complicated feelings are complicated.
