I really liked the idea of this book but unfortunately the execution felt forced.

Enid is different. She’s obsessed with space, can’t stop listening to gruesome podcasts, and is terrified of bald men. She’s trying to forge a relationship with her half sisters in the wake of their father’s death but doesn’t feel like she fits in. Amidst an unexpected romance, Enid thinks she’s being followed by someone.

This book’s blurbs highlight how quirky and funny it is…but it all felt forced to me. The “Autistic coded female protagonist has family trauma she hasn’t dealt with plot twist but she’s unique and fun” novel has been done before, and much better in my opinion in “Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine” and “Cassandra in Reverse.” This one felt like a watered down version of these prior books with an LGBTQIA+ twist. I didn’t hate this by any means and would read other books by this author, but I really wanted more from this one.
