“There is no love in violence.”

This series was such a fun experience. I had been seeing these books floating around the stratosphere when I first joined bookstagram, but I completely thought it would be too juvenile for me to really enjoy, so I just didn't even consider it.

A month or so ago, my bestie convinced me to give it a shot after she listened to the audiobooks and adored them. I am SO GLAD that I gave this trilogy a go! This may be in my top five series…of all-time. The characters, the found-family, the PLOT TWISTS!!! There were so many things that happened that I really was not the least bit expecting.

“Do moons choose the planets they orbit? Do planets choose their stars? Who am I to deny gravity, Aurora? When you shine brighter than a constellation in the sky?”

the synopsis for Aurora Rising:
It's 2380, and the graduating students of Aurora Academy are being assigned their first missions. Tyler Jones has been a star pupil who hopes to recruit the squad of his dreams but ends up with a mixed and volatile crew. And Ty's squad isn't even his biggest problem - that'd be Aurora Jie-Lin O'Malley, the girl he's just rescued from interdimensional space. Trapped in cryo-sleep for two centuries, Auri is a girl out of time and out of her depth. But she could be the catalyst that starts a war millions of years in the making, and Tyler's squad of losers, discipline cases and misfits might just be the last hope for the entire galaxy.

I laughed so so so much, and I cried almost just as much. These books were so much more enjoyable than I could have ever anticipated. I immediately wanted to grab my physical copies as soon as I finished the audiobooks so that I could take the time to annotate them as well as pick up on all the little easter eggs that I didn't notice the first time. I am so seriously going to reread them before the year is up, I swear lol!

Seriously guys, if you haven't read/listened to The Aurora Cycle, please do yourself a favor and change that. And also message me all your thoughts as you do read them because I crave them!!!

“A lot of those stars actually died millions of years ago. It's just they're so far away, the light they created before they died hasn't finished reaching us yet. You're looking at a sky full of ghosts.”

the best parts:
- found family
- hilarious cast
- lovable characters
- multiple POV (you actually get the POV of each member of the squad, which I LOVED)
- enemies-to-lovers
- action PACKED
- it literally takes place in SPACE
- amazing cast of narrators (for audiobooks)
- absolutely heartbreaking scenes as well as devastatingly beautiful ones
- LGBTQ+ representation

I'm going to try to recover from the literal rollercoaster ride of emotions I rode through while listening to this trilogy and maybe I'll be fully recovered come 2380, but until then…
