Daughter of the Moon Goddess by Sue Lynn Tan

5.0

I had initially put this book on my TBR purely for the beautiful cover. I went in almost completely blind, and after finishing, I have zero regrets!

This book is totally captivating, with rich and interesting characters and a unique setting based in Chinese mythology. It's a little like Mulan-meets-ATLA, but it's also very much its own thing. While I am not normally a huge fan of love triangles, this one is done beautifully! I like that I could understand why the characters made the decisions they did, even as situations change throughout the story.

The ending is lovely. We get good resolution for the events in this book, but it also leaves enough hanging to get me excited to read book two!
