The Worlds of J. R. R. Tolkien: The Places That Inspired Middle-earth by John Garth

5.0

This book is full of information about the lands that Tolkien explored throughout his life and how they inspired his fantastical world of Middle-Earth. Anyone who is interested in Tolkien beyond the movies and books would be interested in this.

It's stuffed with photos of the lands and drawings from Tolkien where you can compare the two. It's not a coffee table book to sit there and flip through a couple pages. This has in-depth information about Tolkien scholarship, including some disagreements posed amongst academics as to what exactly inspired Tolkien.

I really enjoyed reading this.
