I have not read much historical fiction, nor studied Civil War history; I have not read Little Women and this is my first read of Geraldine Brooks.
The moral questions posed by the work, and the conflict between ideals and reality promise to make this a lively book club discussion. I am impressed by the extensive research and the consistent voice Brooks created for the characters. She painted a vivid picture of the environment and the circumstances which enable me to engage fully with the story.
