The Stranger Beside Me
by Ann Rule
Good because it’s a good story
Ted Bundy is a macabre and fascinating character with a totally enthralling story. The mystery and thrill and suspense in this book just exists because of what he story itself is. Rule is a good enough writer, but the book is SO long winded and I honestly had to force myself through all the added chapters because she just can’t stop talking about herself and her thoughts. The idea that she would have been writing this book before she anyone knew it was Bundy is absolutely unbelievable and makes for a great story, but half of it reads like a stream of consciousness.
