The Witch Hunter by Virginia Boecker
4.0

When I first looked at the cover of this book, my mind originally went to "Deathly Hallows". I think it had to do with the triangle and circle. But when I looked closer, I realized that it was actually quite different. All in all, I really enjoyed this book. Even the description of this book sounded interesting.

Things I liked:

I really enjoyed all of these characters. Even the background characters get a great story. Schuyler, whom we only meet at the back-half of the book, has an interesting background that we get to know. All of the characters together made up a sort of wacky family that work only when they are all there. Take even one of them out and the story would change. This makes me nervous for the next book because I have a inkling that someone may die.

Also, I liked the whole plot. One of my guilty pleasures is when someone has to hide their background for some reason or another. Whether it be a physical transformation or a hidden secret, I love these plots. It makes it even better when they start to fall for someone who doesn't know their secret, or may even hate their hidden selves. This is one of the things that made the story great. A witch hunter who uses magic to stop magic, but then finds out she was brainwashed to believe the wrong thing? That's awesome.

There was no Instalove! The romance arc was minor and felt completely natural. It wasn't forced and it wasn't a love-at-first sight thing. That I loved.

Dislikes:
There wasn't a lot I didn't dislike about this book. I wished it didn't end the way it did because I have a lot of questions. It was pretty short but that just makes me want to read the next one that much more. Maybe the one thing I didn't like so much was the villain, Blackwell. It was fairly obvious once you got to know him that he was hiding something. And his secret didn't turn out to be a huge secret. At least I sort of knew what was coming.

Overall, this is a great book and a great start to an interesting series.
