Before refrigeration, dried salt fish was a common cheap food eaten both in London and by enslaved people in the British Caribbean, whose cuisine incorporated West African influences. The ingredients here aren't much like the modern Jamaican dish as ackee, plantain, and even peppers and tomatoes weren't normally available in England back then. I imagined Charlotte's mum making her own version with
the ingredients available to her.

Charlotte wit the saltfish kinda sealed the deal for me. Like I was not expecting west indies rep in this lmao.

My only critique is that I wish the ending had some more closure? But then again, being queer is illegal here so it could be just me wanting more for
