This book was fun. It's just a giant parody of Star Trek. In my opinion, Scalzi aced the execution of this novel. Full of tropes, but it's not serious and makes fun of itself. The first 2/3’s of the book is this satirical drama of being a crew member upon the spaceship Intrepid. And on the last third, the tone shifts dramatically and alters to a reflective narrative about fate and destiny.
