mysecretgarden 's review for:
The Two Lives of Lydia Bird
by Josie Silver
This book is not what i thought it would be like , i was afraid it would be cheesy and predictable in a boring way. But, honnestly i love the story. review coming soon !
This book is about "grief ", we witness the journey of lydia into getting over the death of her fiancee "freddie" , he died the night of her birthday. I normally don't like when abnormal stufff happens in a realistic kind of story , but it was understandable in this one , i'm not gonna say it was my favorite part ,because i got fed up with it at some point , but it was necessary for the story's sake. Lydia was prescribed some pink pills to help her sleep , because she wasn't able to after the tragedy, so she used them , and she found hersel in a parallel universe, in which her beloved freddie was still alive . So when she sleeps she's in that world ,and when she's awake she's in the real world with freddie gone.
The intresting part is that she couldn't let go of freddie ,she couldn't heal because she was still attached to that parallele universe in which she was living a normal life and planning her wedding .
It was really emotionnal , because it made you feel the hurt she was feeling , the pain of losing someone so dear to your heart ,and having the chance to see them again and again every time you sleep isn't one you wouldn't choose . So i guess this book puts you in a grieving test if that exists
