I Am Malala: The Girl Who Stood Up for Education and Was Shot by the Taliban by Malala Yousafzai

4.0

Much more densely packed with history than I expected, and some readers may be put off by the profusion of names, places, and history of Pakistan 1940s through the present. But against that level of detail, one is even more amazed at what Malala has accomplished in her not-quite 17 years. Her refusal to be silent about the deplorable state of education for girls in Pakistan will inspire those who read her story, at the same time that her accounting of America's role in the conflict in which she grew up will give students plenty to ponder.
