The Book Thief by Markus Zusak

5.0

This book may now be among my top favorites of all time. I was blown away by the writing style, the incredibly unique perspective of Death as the story's narrator, the story of Liesel's story, and the setting of Nazi Germany. This book is an amazing read, though also heart-wrenching and very, very difficult to read at times (not because of the writing style, but because of the settings and events that you know were true, and even for the fictional characters were likely true for someone at some point in that time period). Even so, it was almost impossible to put down. I wished I could have sat down and read the whole thing through in one sitting.
