bookbint 's review for:
The Source
by Sarah Sultoon
challenging
dark
tense
medium-paced
This reminded me of Martina Cole's Faceless & Broken books.
A young journalist is allowed on a people trafficking case, but just as they get their evidence the story is dropped for something bigger...
In the late 1990s a young girl is encouraged by her friend to party with the local army boys, it's okay though as her brother knows, it's fine, & she gets to help her baby sister at home. It's fine, really....
How these two stories link is compelling.
I couldn't believe it was a debut, nor could I believe it was allowed to be published, it really asks some hard questions about those in charge.
The rights have been bought & I'm hoping it won't hold any punches as The Source hits home hard.
Loved it & highly recommend if you want a shocker of a thriller.
Thanks to Karen at Orenda Books for gifting me this early copy x #TeamOrenda
