What Moves the Dead
by T. Kingfisher
A retelling of Edgar Allan Poes “Fall of the House of Usher.” I am not familiar with the story, so I went into this with no preconceived ideas.
In the countryside of Ruravia, the wildlife (mostly hares) and people are acting peculiar. We follow a retired soldier, Easton who is helping piece together what could be affecting their town and what is moving the dead.
Enjoyable novella, kind of eerie with a dark academia feel. Very on brand for Kingfisher if you’re familiar with her other books.
