Caught in the Axe by Daphne Elliot
5.0
Caught in the Axe is the quintessential small-town romance, where everyone knows everyone—and everyone gossips. Both of the main characters, Owen and Lila, find themselves back in Lovewell for different reasons, neither particularly happy to be there. Owen has returned to help his family, while Lila is back to save money for grad school.
Thrust together to work on Owen’s family business, a friendship quickly develops between them. This is a 10-year age gap romance, and I love how Daphne Elliot skillfully highlights their differences in age through their interactions and the way they handle the challenges that arise.
Lovewell is such a charming small town, and I can’t wait to read more about the Hebert brothers. And let’s talk about that cliffhanger... thank goodness book two is already out!
