This is by far one of Amy's best books! Hod is the hero my heart ached for but didn't know it. You will find love, adventure, loyalty, and sacrifice is this novel. Multiple times while reading I found my self unsure of what was coming next, which seemed silly because I read First Girl Child. Even though the stories are set during the same time, they are both vastly different. I fell back in love with Bayr and Alba's story as if just hearing it for the 1st time. I treasured every minute between Ghost and Dagmar. I loved learning more about the Daughters of Freya in this book. Each daughter represented a different group. Amy made sure it was understood the physical difference  between each girl, and highlighted how it made them beautiful. I am going to stop now because I don't want to spoil anything and I am too excited right now. Overall this book is "rare and wonderful" and I am thankful that I've experienced it.
