Haunting Adeline by H.D. Carlton

challenging dark emotional mysterious

Listen I won't speak on the romance of this book as it's pretty obvious that it's fucked up but I've read books that were worse than this and I'm only going to base my review on a few things.

My enjoyment: I got through this book pretty quickly. The mystery behind the grandmas death, the thrilling elements of Addy being targeted for human trafficking and stalked, Zade going into the monsters den while being a creep himself. I won't lie, I was entertained.

The spice: ngl the spice in this one was subpar... like, the dude had a big weiner, and that's it... idk what the spice was in this, but... I've read better 😀 I've certainly read worse, and it was good... but I've read better.

The characters: Zade and Addy are uh.... something for sure. Addy was kinda trying to be a girlboss but sometimes her attitude gave "toddler tantrum." However I do like how loyal she is towards the people she loved and despite having mommy issues I really felt for her when she was describing her relationship with her grandma. As for Zade... that bitch needs therapy because the God Complex is strong in this one... he's not even that cool... like who's gonna break it to him? I've never cared for a man's arrogance and even when written by women... its still 🤮🤮 garbage. But I like how self aware he is in being a creep and having uh... staking tendencies but I wonder if he's a Psycho or sociopath because nobody just randomly infiltrates and kills pedos or human traffickers for shits and giggles... like bsffr.

Anyways... I do like it enough to continue, but uh... it was mid 😀
