Oh my stars. Where do I begin with this one? I was so intrigued from the blurb of this book, I knew I had to get my hands on it. I was not disappointed at any point. I was fully engaged within this world this author created for us and when I had to put it down, I was thinking about what will happen and how it will all play out. Violet is a force. She wants what is best for herself and she is fighting to get herself to a place that wasn’t like her mothers. But of course life throws you curveballs and boy did they ever with Violet. That is how Hoka enters the picture and a whirlwind romance begins between these two. They were drawn to each other from the start like a thread tugging them. It is intense, passionate and so much more. But being the head of the Japanese mafia still has rules. And just when you think things are amazing, they are obliterated. My heart hurts for Violet as she tries to create a new life for herself after tragedy. But I love how Hoka tries to right the wrongs. There are so many little twists and turns and I LIVED for how Violet made Hoka work for it after shattering her! As things play out, they open up new avenues for this series to go as it is only book one of the series but this is 100% a standalone. I enjoyed this book so much that I still cannot stop thinking about it!
