Baby Doll by Hollie Overton
2.0
I said yesterday that I would have to give up reading this book, but I was so close to the end that I pushed through anyway.
What did I do when the book ended? I tore out my earbuds (yes, I listened on audio, which was a mistake), leaned back in my chair, and said, "FINALLY."
That should tell you what I thought of this book. I didn't care. I wasn't gripped. I was bored. What could have been an interesting novel was ruined by poor and dull characterization. Lily was hardly a character and more like a cardboard cut-out. Her sister was more interesting but made so many stupid decisions that she was unbearable. I don't mind toxic characters; in fact, I love them. But because the writing in this novel fell flat, so did my interest in these characters.
Someone save me from my book rut.
