I am absolutely and completely obsessed with this book and with Ava Reid.
ASID is a modern gothic romance with a dark academia feel. I loved how the book addressed the issue of misogyny in academia through Effy’s experiences. There’s also some really interesting ideas that come up about stories, which you’ll see when you read it, I don’t want to spoil anything!
I was engaged by everything! Effy’s nightmares, her rivalry with Preston, and all the mystery surrounding Myrddin.
Ava Reid is a beautiful writer, and she drew me into the story right away. Her style of description and command of figurative language is so strong. She’s just a really fantastic writer. Again, I absolutely adored this book (and Ava Reid) 🤍
