There is much to love about this story, and the morals and messages Orwell tried to illustrate with it, but the use of
rape/sexual violence imagery
, although maybe used to illustrate the extent of this world, has a very undesirable effect in that it seems to normalise the idea that ideas of
rape
are commonplace and should be embraced.
