I enjoy Dan’s podcast, “Hardcore History,” so I was pretty sure I would enjoy this one, and I did. I’m not so sure it added any new information though. Many of the pieces of this book are sprinkled throughout his Babylonian “King of Kong’s” series and Celtic Holocaust series, and much of the final chapters on nuclear war and civilian bombing is just a retelling of his “Destroyer of Worlds” blitz episode. Still, I thought it was done nicely. You can sort of tell that it was him reading from a script, but it still felt very similar to his usual podcasts (which are very long form anyway).

I would definitely recommend this to anyone who’s a Hardcore History fan. It might be recycling content, but bringing those relevant pieces and themes together in one place was worth the read (or listen).
