Naomi runs away from her wedding to help her sister Tina—only for Tina to steal her car and her wallet and leave her stranded in a small Virginia town with an eleven-year-old niece to raise and a grumpy (and sexy) business owner for company.

I’ve heard nothing but good things about this book, and I’m pleased to report it didn’t let me down. I found the beginning a tiny bit slow (and the book overall is pretty long for a contemporary romance, though it does read quickly!) but the characters grew on me and by the end the entire book felt like a warm hug from a friend. I’m obsessed with the entire supporting cast—Waylay, Stef, Sloane, Lina, Lucian, Amanda, and Lou, in particular—and the found family/small-town-coming-together vibes made me tear up more than once.

I also appreciated that this book has a fair amount of action unrelated to the romance, and even though TWNGO is overall more of a comedy/lighthearted read, the danger still felt genuine and high stakes when it was supposed to, and resolved in a way that made sense and didn’t feel “too easy.” I’m also a huge fan of epilogues and lots of closure, so the bonus epilogue gave me EVERYTHING my heart desired and more.

My timing on reading this one was also great—not only was it the February pick for my book club, the sequel, Things We Hide From the Light, is coming out soon, and I will absolutely be picking it up!

Recommended to anyone, but especially if you like: grumpy/sunshine; small town romance; action mixed with rom-com

CW: Gun violence; domestic abuse; kidnapping; addiction/drug use; death of loved one/parent
