Did not finish book. Stopped at 31%.
I saw red reading this.
I’ll preface this by saying I’m really glad I didn’t buy this book and it was instead given to me second hand. It was already squished and bent in places like it had been thrown across the room numerous times (for good reason).
Unfortunately I won’t get the time back I spent reading what I did and I feel like everyone who attempted to read this dumpster fire of a book should receive some sort of compensation for the trauma.
I started it and by page 13 I’d already had enough. Yeah, seriously. Eartha is obnoxious and her boyfriend was written like some kind of a gay boy band member complete with dangly earring. I could feel the seething hatred this woman has for men coming off the pages and smacking me in the face.
I tried to finish it by hate-reading it just to see how much worse it would get but honestly it was too painful and I dnf’ed at around 25-30%.
It‘s filled with poorly disguised misandry packaged up as feminism and queer stereotyping that do nothing but harm the community.
The use of a slur in an attempt to try and be funny and make it into some sort of a joke is a huge red flag and unforgivable. Just no. It’s not yours to reclaim FG or make light of; and I wish I could shove this book where the sun doesn’t shine just for that alone. - sincerely and with contempt, a trans masc member of the queer community.
