“Because we hate feeling like we did anything less than our absolute best.”

This book isn't perfect, but its imperfections make the storyline feel real and raw. While I occasionally felt annoyed with the main character, I realized this mirrors how people—including myself—typically think and behave. I felt deeply connected to Mal; her internal monologue echoes my own thoughts, and I saw myself in her weaknesses and problem-solving approaches. The romance is a delightful slow burn with subtle pining, leaving me craving more. Despite my lack of chess knowledge, the book remained entertaining and enjoyable. I couldn't put it down and had an absolute blast reading it.
