From Here to Eternity: Traveling the World to Find the Good Death
by Caitlin Doughty
A fascinating look at how different communities and cultures approach the funeral process. It's less about approaching death and more about what comes after.
Most of the traditions I was familiar with, at least in passing, and while still interesting to learn about the parts that really stood out as amazing were her interactions and conversations with the people in those communities. Specifically how they felt the practices helped connect with their loved ones and their questions and reactions to popular Western traditions.
Full of wit, awareness, and compassion for those grieving Caitlin has created a moving testament to mourning process from around the world, inviting us all to find our own way to hold space for those that we love.
