Digging Up Mother: A Love Story by Doug Stanhope

5.0

Raw and real AF. Any fan of Stanhope knows what they're in for. Anyone unfamiliar, proceed with caution.

If you're going in, get the audiobook. It's one of the most naturally-read listening experiences I've ever enjoyed.

Stanhope goes off the material constantly, peppering in commentary about the proceedings. There are podcast-style breaks too featuring interviews with characters from Doug's life as they relate to the book.

The story starts and ends with a tragedy but it's packed with laughs and heart all along the way.
