RECAP: Inez Olivera journeys to Egypt in search of answers about her parents' mysterious deaths, but her quest uncovers a perilous path filled with betrayal, heartache & an ancient magic that draws her into the past. When her Tío Ricardo delivers an ultimatum tied to her inheritance, Inez is left with one option: marry Whitford Hayes, a former British soldier, her uncle’s aide-de-camp, and her one-time nemesis. But Whit has his own shadowy reasons for remaining in Egypt, and as Inez risks her heart, she may be forced to bind her future to the very man whose hidden agenda could destroy her.
REVIEW: Inez is such a whiny and naive person, holy shit. No wonder she had so much bad luck hit her in this book and the previous one - she almost deserved it with her dumb decisions. Never questioned anything, and when she did question something, it was the most inane issue. Similar to What the River Knows, this book was overly long for what actually happened. There was one twist I didn't entirely see coming, but it wasn't particularly satisfying?
