This story follows Wyatt and Trista. Wyatt lives in the mountains of Colorado with his brothers. He hasn’t had the easiest past when it comes to relationships, but he dreams of becoming a dad and is seeking a surrogate. What happens, though, when his favorite niece steps in to help with the search and accidentally stumbles upon fate?
First off, it’s a fantastic audiobook, so I highly recommend picking it up. I loved the broody lumberjack vibes from the MMC and how caring and protective he is of his family and the people he loves. Trista is fun and quirky, and her habit of bringing home stray or homeless animals is such a good laugh—especially because Wyatt always gives in.
I definitely found myself laughing along with this book, but at times it did feel a little over the top. I also wasn’t quite ready for the first spicy scene—it didn’t give me the spark I was expecting. Don’t get me wrong, I love these two together, but their chemistry didn’t hit as hard as I’d hoped.
Lastly, I wish Trista had come to terms with accepting help and realizing it’s okay to have a loving family a bit earlier in the book—it felt like it dragged on for most of the story. Other than that, I really enjoyed the book and had a great time with it!
