This novel seems so innocent, but there are a lot of microaggressions and plain old racism everywhere throughout it. Perfect book club read to have some great conversations. I had trouble liking Emira and her apathy, as well as Alix and her snottiness, but the plot really kept me listening because you know the train wreck is about to happen! And it does. I didn't love the ending (especially Zara's part in it) because it didn't seem to gel with the rest of the book, but it made me think and it's a book I'd like to discuss with other people.
