This novel was stunningly beautiful. The writing style was almost poetic, this style worked well with the narrator’s voice and artistic nature. Despite finishing the book over 24 hours, I had to stop at several points as certain sentences took my breath away. I didn’t want this story to end. It was heartbreaking in its honest of what it is to live now, particularly as a young black woman. I’m eagerly awaiting the release of anything else Leilani writes, I have become a devout follower.
