Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea by April Genevieve Tucholke

2.0

This book hates logic, because the parents leave their children for years, everyone is aware of it but no one calls child services.

This book hates realism because a guy was stabbed in the chest with a freaking shard of glass but still survived.

The blurb for this book hates readers because it's pitched as Faded Gatsby glamour (ha, where'd you get that from?) and thrilling gothic horror (eh...) meet in this terrifying, dreamy YA romance. Emphasis on the romance, which is messed up by the way.

This book hates the paranormal because abilities are described as glows and sparks and barely explained at all.

This book hates me being happy because it almost tricked me it was enjoyable while reading the middle.

This book hates consistency because it throws in a silly twist near the end after we're lead to believe another thing for the whole book.

This book hates me because I should've seen it coming.
I should start a club called Death by paranormal romance.

Longer rant review to come.
