mariereadsamystery 's review for:
Curtains in Cabo
by Langley Gray
I rated this book 3.5 stars.
Langley Gray introduces Leigha Plunkett, the heroine of the author’s new series, Victims on Vacation. Leigha flees to Cabo with only her passport after discovering that the man she thought was her boyfriend had friend-zoned her and was dating other people. Adding insult to injury, her boss fired her. Suddenly single and jobless, it seems like a great idea to head to the airport to join her family for her parents’ anniversary party in Cabo.
Leigha is expecting a relaxing vacation while celebrating with her family. But when she discovers an unconscious woman on the beach and tries to discover what happened to her, her adventure begins. As she delves deeper into the mystery, she uncovers a web of secrets and danger she never expected to find on vacation.
I’m a fan of mysteries and thrillers, but I had never read a cozy mystery before, and I wasn’t disappointed even though this book differed from my usual books! It was a fast and fun read, and I liked that it was suspenseful, but still lighter in tone. The book's blend of suspense and light-heartedness kept me intrigued throughout. I enjoyed Leigha’s journey as she realized her worth throughout her investigation.
This was the first book I’ve read by Langley Gray, and I enjoyed her style and introduction to a character who has a lot going on in her life, but still wants to help people. I’ll check out the rest of the series!
Thank you to BookSirens for the advanced copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
