it is the time you have wasted for your rose that makes your rose so important.”
i’m deeply moved and charmed like i’ve never been with a ‘childrens’ book, and quite sad at the same time.
i must say, i’m 25 years old and this is my first time reading this book. this is not a book particularly popular in my country or mandatory in school, so i’ve only come to know it because of some very popular quotes that come from it that i’ve found, say, when looking for quotes or in social media posts—and yet when i read them, as much as i’m well acquainted with them, they hit me right in the heart.
the little prince is such a charming, beautiful book about life and love and loving life, and making sure to grasp what’s really important beneath all the nonsensical worries one has over things that don’t really matter in the great scheme of things. it’s about life and love and friendship and loneliness. it’s a tiny book that holds whole planets. it’s warmed my heart deeply, and i now find it’s criminal how much it’s taken me to read it, but i do hope to carry what i felt and got from this from now on, wishing to get a little bit of the wisdom instilled by the little prince and those that taught him things with me.
more than a children’s book, i find that anyone could read it and find something for themselves in it—more so, i do think everyone should read it. as grown-ups we should remember what it was being a child, truly, from time to time—especially when we’re too concerned with things we deem matters of consequence and forget about our feelings and the beauty of life. would re-read!
