A Portrait of Pain by Jane Washington

4.0

I really enjoyed the final book and think it tied the series up fairly nicely. I do think there were some things that were left open and would’ve been nice to be explored more like if Seraph could tap into the powers of The Materialist or The Reader like it was alluded to. I also wish there was more spice - some scenes got really hot and heavy and then just kind of stopped. The development of the relationships really picked up in the final book and really culminated with Miro, Silas, Noah, and Cabe really learning to trust Seraph and her powers. The world building was really strong, but a lot of things were left open without answers. Overall, the story was strong and I enjoyed reading it, but I think the writing could’ve been more mature (not just talking about spice!) and the Zev world could’ve been explored a lot more in depth.
