Death at La Fenice by Donna Leon
3.0
I think I read mysteries mainly for the setting. Is that weird? So I definitely enjoyed the glimpse into the canals of Venice and the opera scene that this book gives. I was a little confused by all the political references, though, and accidentally spoilered myself by googling and trying to figure out what was up with Italy and communism in the late 80s early 90s. (Never quite figured it out.) The mystery itself ended up being a little more sordid than I really wanted it to be. Trigger warning: pedophiles. Ugh. I might try another in this series, though. I liked the detective.
