The Lesbiana's Guide to Catholic School by Sonora Reyes

5.0

Yami is going through so much! She has been outed by her best friend, is now going to a new school, and is trying to financially help her mom. This is more stress than most of her peers are experiencing. Sonora captures the hardships that queer Latine teens are experiencing. Her writing allows the reader to immerse themselves in Yami's shoes.
Yami finds out that her brother is gay and has a boyfriend. However, Yami would not have guessed that her brother is struggling with this due to confessions at school.
By the end of this book, we see Yami's mother's growth and the unconditional love she has for her children. We also see Yami and her brother learn to love and accept their true self.

This book covers topics surrounding religion, LGBTQ, suicide, therapy, etc.
