Bridge of Clay
by Markus Zusak
Feels like a book you'd just hate to be assigned to read for school, but for pleasure you might enjoy it.
It's really verbiose and scattered. If you like to get lost in long form poetry this is the book for you. At times the wording clouded my understanding of what was going on, and I had to go by vibes alone... Some really great stand alone metaphors though, you can really feel Zuzak sculpting language to evoke the heat of Australian summers, and of feelings you can't otherwise describe.
I also got very put off once ~the thing that was foreshadowed~ came to pass, because it felt like it should have ended there, and I had to push myself to finish it. Overall a good read though, I think I just prefer something a bit more straightforward at the moment.
