Plain Truth by Jodi Picoult
2.0

After reading The Storyteller I had quite high expectations of this book. I thought the Amish community would be an interesting setting and I was certain to find some kind of moral dilemma in the book, in some sort of intriguing story. I was right about the setting, not so much about the rest though. I could never really relate to Katie and the entire book I was waiting for something surprising to happen, which never did. Katie's 'confession' was obvious from the start and I was slightly annoyed by the need for the love story on the side. Moreover, the big revelation at the end wasn't really a surprise either and I thought the whole thing had a bit of a disappointing ending. I was really like 'Is this it?' .
Finally, the story just isn't as well built as some of her other stories. This surprised me, because, although this is not one of her most well-known books, it does have one of the highest ratings here on Goodreads.

That said, the book was an easy read and it was a page turner, despite never really delivering that 'big surprise' I was waiting for.
