This book was frustrating to read. It was a struggle to get through. The premise was good. The theme of a guardian falling in love with his ward is common in historical romances. However,  the interaction between the two main characters,  Dunford and Henrietta, often felt repetitive and stilted. The depth of emotion was not there. There were too many lengthy descriptions that did not move the plot forward. Towards the end, it lost its pull. A fair offering.  I did enjoy the sights and sounds of the ballrooms and walks in the park, transporting me to another time.
