The Ballad of Never After by Stephanie Garber

4.0

4.5
THAT WAS INSANE.
first off, just from the first few chapters i could tell stephanie’s writing had improved DRASTICALLY from the first book. in fact SO MANY THINGS HAD IMPROVED FROM THE FIRST BOOK.

the ballad of never after is like if stephanie garber listened to the critique of her first book, and then used it to CREATED A PERFECT SEQUEL.

this book isn’t rushed and unrealistic like the first one was!! it had enough notable events that was the perfect amount to avoid making the book seem cramped. and oh my god the JACKS CONTENT WE WERE GIVEN THIS BOOK LORDDDDFDDDDDSDGFDGDGDGD

SPOILERS ONWARDS!!!

THE BANDAGE SCENE. AND WHEN THEY SLEPT IN A BED TOGETHER. AND WHEN HE

TRAVELLED
IN TIME
FOR HER.

AND SHE DOESNT EVEN KNOW IT OFHFDJEKDKCKDKEK I NEED TO GO TO A PSYCH WARD AFTER READINF THIS BOOK.

HE TRAVELLED BACK IN TIME TO SAVE HER LIFE!!!! AND SHE HAS NO IDEA.

AND WHAT WAS THAT ENDING OMG APOLLO TAKING HER MEMORIES AND THEN COMINGN IN LIKE HE WAS A SAVIOR??? WHAT HAPPENED TO JACKS????

i cannot WAIT for the third book. i was so upset when i found out it’s not released yet SIGH ONLY A MONTH TO GO!!!

the only weird thing was luc being apollo’s cousin like where did that come from that’s so random LOL there’s no correlation or hints to it beforehand, and we were given no context or explanation once it was revealed, kinda felt like a last minute decision to bring luc back into the story in a way that would make sense for him to be there.

oh and also ‘little fox’ was cute at first but then he used it 24/7 and it became unserious. i feel like that nickname should have only been savored for bittersweet intimate or playful moments, not when he was yelling at her and genuinely angry. if a man was mad at me and called me ‘little fox’ mid-yell i would burst out laughing.

BUT I STILL ENJOYED IT NONETHELESS!!!
