The sequel in the Chemical Garden trilogy was definitely nothing like I expected. The setting is obviously different from the first book, but the characters that Rhine and Gabriel encounter are as bizarre as they are different from the previous characters in Wither. Evan Rhine and Gabriel are shadows of their former selves. Their journey to find Rowan, Rhine’s brother, is difficult and sometimes seems impossible. Even the ending of the book left you wondering what is going to happen next – what could possibly happen next?

There are so many possibilities for how the next book can play out and I am super excited to see how the series concludes. I was worried about halfway through the book that it wasn’t going to “stay with me” like Wither did. However, I was pleasantly surprised, and can say that the author did a fantastic job of ending in the book in a way that left me with my mouth hanging open saying, “No…No! That can’t be it!”

I can’t wait for everyone to get their hands on this book. The cover is absolutely stunning and the words are equally beautiful.
