The Starless Sea by Erin Morgenstern

Did not finish book.
What a disaster... I was really looking forward to reading it so when @_ckarys and @drawingandreading decided to read this book for their #booktalkwithwifey readalong, I decided to start it too. The Starless Sea is not the book for me.

Writing style: Morgenster's writing is very curious. It reminds me a little of the writing style in The Hazel Wood. I couldn't get into Albert's style and ditto for Morgenster's writing. It was all over place, stories within stories and such a slow pace that I was finding other things to do so I didn't have to read this book.

Characters: I barely met anyone and I read 122 pages (I usually DNF around 70 pages, but wanted to give it a chance.) which shows again that this book has a super slow pace. Zachary, our main character, had no personality at all in my opinion and did not make for an interesting character that I'd want to keep reading about.

Story: As I said, I read 122 pages, you would say I'd have something to say about the story aside from it being boring... Well I don't, there's no story there. In one fifth of the book I got absolutely nothing of substance...

Those 122 pages took me several hours when usually that amount would take me 2,5 hours tops. I could not get through this book. There isn't one part of it that could have saved it. What an absolute waste of time. 1 star is all The Starless Sea will get from me.
