The Inheritance Games by Jennifer Lynn Barnes

adventurous mysterious
  • Loveable characters? Yes

4.5

It’s not the best in terms of writing and I sure as heck have personal beef with quite a few of the characters, but overall, it was quite an exciting ride. The mystery and the build-up were very nice, but man, messed up is an understatement when it comes to describing their family and the events surrounding them.

Some parts cliche, some parts predictable, but I think that’s what made it all the more better because unnecessary plot twists weren’t in order and so everything made sense. Plot-holes are ignored on my part (if any) because ultimately, I’m just happy to adventure with everyone. It’s fairly simple, light, and straightforward.

“I told you the day we met that the Hawthorne family was a twisted, broken mess. . . . I never said that I wasn’t one, too.”
